2008 World Language Regional Festival
“Explore the World...Discover Your Future”

This year there are many opportunities for students to be involved, whether it would be through competition (middle school and high school) or non-competitive participation (all levels).

Where:  Bryan Station High School
         201 Eastin Rd.

When:  March 13, 2008 from 4:30 to 8:30 PM  All artwork and construction models must be delivered to the Bryan Station High School before 4:00 PM, March 12. These pieces will be judged on March 12 beginning at 4:00.

         Events and Activities:

·        exploring less-commonly taught languages:

Farsi, Chinese, Japanese, and Arabic

·        making real-life connections with Lexington’s international businesses

·        dance demonstrations and lessons

·        games/arts and crafts

·        conversation tables with native speakers of French, German, and Spanish

·        artwork and construction models for students to view and judge.

·        language and cultural proficiency assessments (middle and high school students)

·        International Cafe

All Fayette County Public Schools World Language Students are invited to participate.  Students will receive a "passport" to stamp as they participate in different activities (which teachers can later use to verify student involvement.)  Door prizes will be awarded throughout the evening.

Middle and High School Teachers: If you plan to have students participate in the language and cultural proficiency assessments, you must be a member of the Kentucky World Language Association.  Please visit http://www.kwla-online.org if you are not already a member.
