Students
and School Web Pages
While
we encourage STLP and other students to take an active
involvement in web page design and development, we must
ensure that it is handled in a controlled educational environment.
Students
are not permitted to create and/or edit any web pages live on the
web. Web page work done by a student is to be saved to a
floppy or to the student's folder on the school server.
After a student has a finished product, he can submit that to
the teacher for her approval. At that point, either the teacher
can publish the pages to the website, or she can contact Maggie
Whittington and ask her to publish them.
However,
at no time is a student to be allowed to publish web pages to the
web. This procedure for publishing web pages is no different than
the way we handle any other comparable educational experience.
What comes to mind is we don't allow students to publish live in
school newspapers and/or school yearbooks. The information which
is published comes from the teacher.
This
procedure in no way prohibits student involvement in web page
design and development. It only ensures that the teacher knows at
all times what is published on the web.
