You
Give Gifts All Year!
As professionals working in a school, you give many gifts
every day of the week, throughout the entire year!
On a daily basis, you give children your gifts of
kindness, caring, patience, guidance, knowledge, experience, and
vision. Each day you impact the lives of children through
your example. While I can't begin to count the many
gifts you bestow upon the students, I do know that it
takes a village to raise a child. I'm very lucky to
be a part of your village.
May you and yours enjoy the spirit of this holiday season,
and have a healthy and happy new year!

How
May I Help You?
Will you be making a New Year's Resolution to use
technology more often in your classroom in 2004? I
can give you some very simple ideas, geared toward your
teaching style, to help you get on your way. Just
send me an email, or touch base with me the next time I am
at your school!

CORRECTION!
Last week I gave a link to the seasonal books at
Starfall's Learn
to Read, and mentioned the free materials available
from the site. Apparently, teachers from all over
the country have been over whelming the company with
requests, and they have changed the offer. Currently
you can download the workbooks (but remember it costs $$$
to print and $$$ for paper), or you can order the
workbooks for $ .50 each. Thanks to Diane Newton
(Lansdowne) for up-dating me on the change!

A HOLIDAY

ALL
GRADES: This lesson Plan provides a creative way to
build language and critical thinking skills. The
lesson could be easily modified to be developmentally
appropriate for almost any age! This would make a
fun lesson to do as the Winter Break approaches!

NATIONAL LIBRARY OF VIRTUAL MANIPULATIVES FOR
INTERACTIVE MATHMATICS
http://matti.usu.edu/nlvm/nav/vlibrary.html
ALL
GRADES: This just might be the BEST math site I
have ever seen! It includes geoboards, charts,
graphs, base ten blocks, pattern blocks, and much
more. I found that I need to play around with some
of the manipulatives to see how they worked, but this is
a GREAT teaching tool! A special thanks to Debbie
Rogers (Lansdowne) for sharing this SUPER site!

TEACHERS' CLOSET

STAFF:
A wealth of helpful ideas, lesson plans,
printables, links to freebies, classroom management
strategies, and lots more!

Important
Tech Tip!!!!
Actually, this is far more than a Tech Tip! This is
important information form the FCPS Network
Administrator, Mike Burke. When you use WebMail (the
mail you use through Internet Explorer), you need to
"Log Off" at the end of your email
session. We get very used to clicking on the X to
close out web sites in Internet Explorer. However,
if you click on the X to close out WebMail, you will
actually leave files open for others to see on the
internet. Also, if you do not log off, it hurts the efficient
operation of our WebMail server. So the next time
you use WebMail, be SURE to go to the bottom of the left
column, and click on that "Log Off" icon!
Have
a safe and happy break!
See you next year!
