How May I Help You?
Election 2004

Have you counted the days until the elections?  Some people count the days just so they know how much longer they have to see the political ads on television!   Presidential elections are only once every 4 years, and they are a  great way to enhance any content area.  If you would like resources, lesson plan ideas, or a modeled lesson, just email me at BBARR@Fayette.k12.ky.us or call me at 494-3607.

Heads Up!

Here is a heads up on some election activities now being developed for Fayette County Schools!  Our district Local Area Network (LAN) & Wide Area Network (WAN) Manager, Sam Conder, is developing a web based simulated voting program to use throughout all our schools.  Sam has been collaborating with School Technology Coordinators (STCs), Technology Resource Teachers (TRTs), and Student Technology Leadership Program Coordinators (STLP) in order to create a kid-friendly  and teacher-friendly simulated voting experience.  While the project is still in the development phase, Sam promises there will be no hanging chads!  Thank you, Sam!!!!

Watch for more information!

Thank You for Supporting our Troops!

In my last weekly newsletter, I mentioned that Fayette County Schools Administrator's Association (FCSAA) is collecting items to send to our troops:  Many classrooms and individuals have given their support.  I will come by all four schools on the afternoon of Tuesday, September 14th to pick up items to take to the administrators' meeting the next day.  The needed items include:

  • Chapstick

  • Sunscreen

  • Toilet paper (apparently the quality is lacking)

  • Batteries (all sizes)

  • Note cards and stationary

  • Pens

  • Gum and Candy

  • Wet Wipes (they actually refer to these as dry showers)

  • Magazines and books (any kind; used are just as good as new. If folks bring magazines from home make sure that they black our their names and addresses)

  • Powdered Drinks (Kool-Aid, Gatorade... they get water and it is convenient for them to carry around dry mix and add it to their bottles of water)

Thank you so much for your help!
