How May I Help You?

Forums
A GREAT Way to Get Your Students to LOVE Reading and Writing!

Research indicates that parents strongly desire for their children to learn 21st Century skills in school.  We are fortunate to have many 21st Century vehicles available to us in Fayette County Public Schools.  Of those, one of the most valuable educational tools is the "Forums."

Forums have become a mainstay in many college classes.  Businesses and interest groups also use Forums to keep members informed.  In our school district, forums are heavily used in intermediate and above classrooms, as well as for teachers and new teachers.  I ONLY recommend Forums for students who have had keyboarding.

There are lots of great ways to use Forums with the Curriculum Map, and in any and all subject areas.  Every day it seems like teachers are finding more new and exciting ways to use this medium.

How May I Help You?

I can help work with your STC and Central Office to set up a Forum for your class.  I can also teach your students how to use the Forums.  Additionally, I can provide you with tons of ideas and activities to combine your forum with any content from the curriculum map or any  content areas.

Have a safe and happy Labor Day!

Did You Know?

The problems we experienced last week with worms and viruses DIDN'T NEED TO HAPPEN in FCPS!  Our district computers are armed with superior anti-virus software.

As there are continuously new versions of worms and viruses, ALL protective software MUST be up-dated to work against the newest versions.  The software used on most home and office computers requires the user to manually or regularly update the virus/worm information.  F.C.P.S. has invested in a powerful anti-virus software that updates every time you turn on or reboot the computer.  But, and this is important, you only receive these up-dates when you turn your computer on. If for some reason you left your computer on for a week, you would not receive any updates during that time. Your School Technology Coordinator (STC) probably has policies and recommendations regarding how often to shut down your computers.  Generally speaking, you need to restart your computer daily, or at a minimum a few times each week.
