How May I Help You?

Do you have enough time?  Do you need to develop some new units or lessons to go along with the Curriculum Map?  A  great way to find time to develop units and lessons for the Curriculum Map is to participate in the P.E.T. (Planning for the Engagement of Technology) Project.  I can assist you in applying to participate in the program.  I'll also help you with standards based lessons and units during the PET Project.  But here is the catch:  Spaces in the PET Project are limited!  So get a group together (3-4 people), and apply ASAP!

Don't know what the PET Project is?
Here's a description from the website. http://itech.fcps.net/PET/default.htm

Do you need extra planning time? Do you need to know more about using technology in your classroom? Do you need someone to show you how? Do you feel like you’re being "hounded" by an urgent need to join the technology generation? If you answered "yes" to any of the above, then the PET Project is for you!

The PET Project has been established to assist classroom teachers in developing standards-based instructional units that integrate technology. Teachers in Fayette County Public Schools come as a team to work with curriculum and technology resource teachers to develop these units. These same resource teachers will assist the teachers with the implementation of the unit.

Data from the last two years show the project to be highly successful for schools that participated! For example, we found that schools that show the most improvement on CATS were more than twice as likely to participate in PET last year. We will continue to make a strong emphasis on literacy during the project.

The application for this year's PET Project is now online http://teach.fcps.net/pet/application.htm.

The dates are listed below.

September 2 & 4 Elementary teams

September 10-11 Secondary teams

September 30-October 1 Elementary teams

The deadline to apply is August 26

Applications may be sent by courier or faxed and must include principal's signature.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Did You Know?

Did you know that we have added more Technology Resource Teachers to our department?  Each of us will serve fewer schools, so now your District TRT will be able to come to your school more often!

GRADES 3 AND ABOVE: You will want to use a newer computer with this site.  It takes a few minutes to load, but is well worth the wait.  The online version is free, but a little on the slow side.  A faster, desktop version can be purchased.  Wow!  It is a great way for kids to learn about a valuable tool like a thesaurus!
