KENTUCKY WEATHER
A rather new
aspect of weather watching, courtesy of the Kentucky Transportation
Cabinet, is available at the following site. This is a part of the 511
traffic alert system. If you click on the weather station indicated,
you'll get a really neat graphic representation of the weather along
Kentucky highways. It is also a pretty good use of a variety of
graphing systems. The Transportation Cabinet has established remotely
operating sensor stations at a variety of locations along Kentucky
roads, with as many as 40 of these stations planned.

Also, if you would
like to share with your students the methods by which the National
Weather Service determines the conditions at unmanned stations such as
Bluegrass Field, take a look at the following site. Exactly
how do they know when it's snowing instead of sleeting at an unmanned
station?

Many thanks to

Start off
the New Year with a giving attitude. Click on
the Hunger Site to donate food--it's free, and it's an
easy project for your class to take on. The Hunger Site
now has a tracker of how often you donate, so your students can keep track of their donations for you. Have
them also create a graph of how much rice/food is contributed each day (this amount shows up as soon as you
click to donate). From Classroom Flyer.
