Tech Tips - Adding an Auto-Signature to Your Email

Creating an auto-signature is a great way to save yourself time when composing email messages while helping the intended recipient figure out who you are.  An auto-signature can contain almost anything, but most list at least your name and school affiliation.  If you would like to add an auto signature to all of your email messages follow these simple steps:

  • Open Outlook
  • Choose Tools, then Options
  • Select the Mail Format tab at the top of the window.
  • Click the Signature... button at the bottom
  • Choose New
  • Type a title for your signature, then click Next
  • Type in the signature that you want to show up in your email. I would suggest including at least your name and school name.
  • Then Finish, OK and OK again.

You might want to send yourself an email as a practice run to see if it shows up and looks the way you want it to. You can always go back in and edit it.
