Using Immex in
the Classroom
During this time of
year, the computer lab is often busy and
unavailable for student projects. However,
you can engage your students in the classroom in
higher order thinking and problem solving using
the Immex website.
Immex
(Interactive Multi Media Exercises) is a web
project created by UCLA. The site provides a
variety of problem sets across curriculum areas
that can be used in a whole class approach or in a
computer lab setting. While you must
register in order to use the site and schedule
problem sets you want to use, it is completely
free. Using these sets is a great way to
engage students and provide a new opportunity.

Tech Tips
End of Year Computer Clean Up
As the school year winds down
and you prepare to leave for the summer, it's a
good idea to do a little computer cleanup before
you go. Below are some tips that will help
your computer function better in the fall.
If you need help with anything, please let me
know!
- Take some time before you
leave to sort through any documents you have
saved in My Documents or on your school server.
Delete anything you no longer need.
- If you aren't already doing
so, backup any files on your computer that you
want to keep by also saving them to the server
at your school. Computers often move
around in the summer or have problems in the
fall, so it's a good idea to have back up
copies. If you need help with this, please
let me know or contact your STC.
- Clean out your email.
Go through those messages your are saving and
delete anything and everything you don't need.
Make sure you delete unneeded items in your Sent
folder and make sure your deleted folder is
empty. Save email attachments you want to
keep to your computer and/or server folder and
delete them from email. This will ensure
your Inbox doesn't get too full over the summer
if you aren't checking email on a regular basis.
- Take time now to clean out
your Internet Temporary Files. Open
Internet Explorer. Click on Tools, and
then Options. Click on the Delete
Files.... button. This may take a few
minutes.
