Thanksgiving Resources

Plimoth.org has just launched a new online learning center dealing with the topic of The First Thanksgiving.  It is very interactive and very informative. Much of the information is given both in text and through audio.  Below are the general sections:
□        Fact of Myth – discover several myths about the First Thanksgiving
□        The Evidence -  learn about primary sources and read the only actual letter from someone at The First Thanksgiving.  Discover how historians have interpreted this letter.
□        The Wampanoag People – Learn about what daily life was like and how they celebrated during different seasons
□        The English Colonists – See where the colonists lived and find out how they got ready for the harvest celebration
□        The Path to 1621 – explore the events leading up to The First Thanksgiving and hear the story from both the Wampanoag and the colonists point of view 

As a culminating activity, students can write about what they’ve learned by writing an exhibit label for individual pictures or creating a museum exhibit using multiple pictures and titles.  These can be printed upon completion.
