Soil Resources
Websites for Research and Information
- S.K.
Worm - The official annelid, or worm, of the
U.S. Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources
Conservation Service answers students questions
about soil.
- The
Dirt on Soil - This site from Discovery School
gives good information about what makes soil and
what lives in soil in a fun-looking format.
There is also an interactive activity for students
to complete - the Soil Safari.
Webquests and Online Activities
- Field Museum
- Underground Adventure - Take a virtual tour
and see what life would be like if you were a half
inch tall and exploring the soil beneath your
feet.
- The
Great Plant Escape - Soiled Again - Be a
detective and find out what soil is, why it is
important, and in what kinds of soil plants
grow. (Also very good just for the
information.)
- Soil
Safari - part of the "Dirt on Soil"
website above, this adventure takes students into
the soil to "see" what's there.
