Research and Online Resources Across Subject Areas

The following sites are good places to find resources when your students are doing re as well as find teacher resources across subject areas.  Many have online activities as well as lesson plans.

• BBC Online Resources - a variety of games and other resources for lots of subject areas
• Blue Web'n (resources for all subject areas)
• Dewey Browse - links to sites cataloged by Dewey number. This makes it easy for students and teachers to go back and forth from the library bookshelf to the Web!
• Dositey.com - great math and language arts online activities across K-8.
• Education Place - by Houghton-Mifflin
• Education Planet
• EduPuppy - Great resource for early childhood through 3rd grade links
• FREE - Federal Resources for Educational Excellence website that provides links to many educational links to gov. websites
• Harcourt School - online resources and activities
• Internet Public Library (IPL) - Great place to look for information both for students and teachers
  • IPL Kidspace - section of the IPL designed specifically for kids
• Jerrie's Curriculum Hotlists - pages of links for over 50 different themes
• Kathy Schrock's Guide for Educators - from the Discovery School website, this guide "is a categorized list of sites useful for enhancing curriculum and professional growth. It is updated often to include the best sites for teaching and learning."
• Kenton County Internet Resource Page - links for every major subject
• LearnIt - from Nortel, the teacher side contains technology related lesson plans and the student portal contains technology how to's via streaming video
• Library of Congress Webcasts - recordings of several hundred talks, discussions and conferences over the last several years under the guidance of the LOC.  Some also include photographs and other extras.  Example topics: Ben Franklin, Publishing the Declaration, Science Safari, American Heroines, and much more!
• Marco-Polo  -Great teacher resource for all subjects for lesson plans and online activities
• National Geographic Education Page - this site is created for teachers and students
• National Geographic for Kids - a homework help page for students when doing research on a variety of topics
• PowerPoint Resource - This site from Jefferson County, TN includes many already created PowerPoint games and lessons for all grade levels and subjects. 
• PBS TeacherSource - over 3,500 lesson plans 
• Scholastic - great resources
• Sites for Teachers - compilation of teacher resources
• Smith Virtual Media Center - great resource for subject area and grade level online resources 
• Smithsonian Education - lesson plans, field trips, websites, etc by grade and subject.
• The Teacher Guide - by Teacher Created Materials
• Teachers' Domain - multimedia resources for the classroom (primarily science and SS)
• Teacher Tid Bytes - online resources for teachers and students
