Using the Comment Feature in Word

Using the comment feature is a great way to give students feedback on their writing without having to print a new copy each time. Simply click in the document where you wish to make a comment, and then click on Insert, and Comment. Type your comment in the box. Save the piece once all the comments are inserted. The student will then be able to see your comments the next time they open the piece without any changes actually being made to the piece. Students can delete the comments once they make the necessary changes.

Keep in mind that if the piece is being written for a portfolio that you should only place your comments at the end of a line in the area that the comment is related to. That way you are not specifically pinpointing errors or places of changes.
