Use Microsoft Excel to show bar models for the following story problems.

Write the problem to solve and answer to the problem after the bar model.

1.   Jackie had 9 crayons and found 1 more.  How many crayons does he have?

2.  Ned had 3 cookies, then Grandma came over and gave him 7 more cookies.  How many does he have now?

3.  There were 7 cans of soft drinks in the cooler.  Mom put 4 more cans in the cooler for the picnic.  How many cans are in the cooler?

4.  Dad had 2 gallons of gas in the car.  He stopped at the gas station and got 6 more gallons.  How many gallons does he have now?

5.  Jane had 5 Barbie dolls and Paulette came over with 5 more Barbie dolls.  How many Barbie dolls can they play with now?

6.  Cindy had 4 candles on her birthday cake.  She put one more on the cake for her birthday.  How many candles does Cindy have on her birthday cake?

7.  On Monday 8 kids said they would go on the field trip.  On Tuesday 2 more kids said they would go.  How many are going on the field trip?

8.  Nan has 6 chicken nuggets.  Fred didn't want the rest of his, so he gave Nan the 2 he had left over.  How many chicken nuggets does Nan have now?

9.  Lance has 3 cats and 2 dogs for pets.  How many pets does he have?

10.  Jameson has 7 trucks and 3 cars.  How many trucks does Jameson have?
