Tech Tip

Downloading and adding new fonts?

There are various fonts you can download to your computer and use with Microsoft Word.  Many of these fonts are free.

For example there are fonts you can use to create individualized handwriting sheets, such as these found on a Penmanship Fonts web page.

Penmanship Print font & School Script Dashed font

So how do you download these fonts and use them?

Each of the graphics above are linked to the font file you can use.

**Right Click on the link (a graphic above in this case.)

**Save Target as

**Save on your desk top for now

**Open

**With the font Zip folder highlighted, go to File, Extract all (because these files come as a zip file.)

**Start, Control Panel, Font

**Copy or drag the font file (usually has a letter on the icon) you just extracted into the Font folder.

**When you use Word you should find your new font in the fonts list.

  • Remember to delete the zip folders from your desktop.  You don't need them if you successfully installed the fonts.
