Sites Used Often

Throughout the past year, I have found myself referring to these sites frequently for help or ideas.

* Primary Resources co.uk is a collection of power points, Word, Smart Board and pdf formatted documents for all content areas.  You'll find things for K-12.

*Teaching Ideas is similar to the site previously mentioned.

* A Rhyme a Week is for early literacy.  Each rhyme focuses on a word family or sound.

* This site offers free streaming soft music for my class or to use after the students are left and you want to relax a bit before you start working again on papers or lesson plans.  Occasionally there will be a plug to thank you for using the site.

New Sitings

* Want new ways to motivate your students to write?  Find lots of virtual prewriters and other help on NCTE's "Read, Write and Think," site.

* This one is so new, I'm still learning about it.  Scratch is, according to the site,

"a new programming language that makes it easy to create your own interactive stories, animations, games, music, and art -- and share your creations on the web.

Scratch is designed to help young people (ages 8 and up) develop 21st century learning skills. As they create Scratch projects, young people learn important mathematical and computational ideas, while also gaining a deeper understanding of the process of design."

Note from the author of this newsletter

I've been teaching second grade this year while recovering from total knee replacement.  Needless to say something had to not get done and this newsletter was one of those things.  Sorry.

I am hobbling much better these days.

EnJOY teaching,

JOY
