Tech Tip Did you know you can interact with a power point? Especially helping if using power point as an instruction tool is the "pen" option. During the slide show: right click, pointer options, pen. Then click and drag to draw a line around a word, connect words, or draw. Notice you can change the pen color as well. To see an example of a use for this magic pen take a look at Rhyming Ed. Students draw the part of Ed to complete the blank. Then hit the enter button to go to the next slide. |
In ClassKelly Harrod, kindergarten teacher at Linlee developed a unit on seeds. Technology was integrated throughout with Word, Kidspiration and the use of the Intel Microscope. The unit was summarized with a Power Point Presentation. Sami Williams, second grade class at Linlee researched a given state using Reporting on Your State as a guide. The information from this guide was published in a brochure made using Word. |

NEWSFLASH
Many students of FCPS were fortunate to participate in the FCPS Tech Fair Sat, April 13, 2002. It was a valuable time for students to see what other students in other schools were doing. Probably just as important was that STLP leaders were able to get ideas from other schools as well. A huge thanks goes to Patsy Hickland, Linlee; Melba Leach, Arlington, Phyllis Peterson, Johnson and Al Johnson, Mary Todd for setting up their booths to highlight their schools. To quote Paula Whitmer, "We received high compliments from Lydia Wells Sledge, Elaine Harrison and Charlanne Pook of KDE. I heard that there were at least two DTCs from nearby districts in attendance. We had several administrators in attendance from CO. I personally saw Diane Woods, middle school director; Mike McKenzie, Lafayette principal; Francis O'Hara, Eastside principal; and Dr. Fankhauser." I also saw Principals Linda Edin and Carol Elliott stop by as well. Paula kept herself very busy during the last few months coordinating this effort. Many hours were put into this happening that is sure to grow Terry Wicker closed the awards session by saying he is looking forward to the "Second Annual Fayette County Public School's Technology Fair" next year. |
