Week 26

*2nd- Weather

  • FEMA for kids

  • Teams of students choose a prominent city in the United States.  Use www.weather.com to find the high temperature from the day before.  Keep a record, then create a line graph using Excel.  Compare all the graphs for changes of weather among the chosen cities.  Follow up with discussions about the reason for the temperature and ranges of each city.

*3rd- Weather, heat, light

  • FEMA for kids

  • Create a how-to brochure or power point explaining the water cycle.

  • Interactive Weather Maker- Students change temperature and humidity to find out what it takes to create wind, rain, snow, cloudy or sunny days.

*4th- Life Cycles-

  • Web quest - Determine which two animals have the most similar life cycle.  (Note: there are a couple of dead links.  If you are interested in this type of inquiry based lesson, I can create a new page for your students to use.)

  • Create a Digital Movie with pictures and sound explaining the life cycle of an animal of your choice.

  • Parts of a Flower Interactive site

  • New York Times interactive & hard copy Life Cycle Crossword Puzzle- challenging.

  • Animal Life Cycle Printouts

  • Use Kidspiration  or Inspiration to create a life cycle.  Teacher can first model, then students can create either in computer center or lab.
