In
this example, I will add text as a vector layer, and then modify it using
effects. I first choose the picture to which I want to add text. |
In
this case I'll increase the available portion of the picture by using the
take a portion of the image, and replace the display on the TV with it. I
must first select a background color using the color swatches in the upper
right hand corner . . . |
.
. . I'll use white. |
Then I'll add some canvas to the bottom, to make room for my text, using
menu option "Image/Canvas Size..."
|
It
doesn't matter how much I add - I can always crop later. If you want the
space for the text to be at the bottom, you will need to un-check
the "Center image vertically" box, and set the top to 0. |
I
now have a space for my text. I click on the Text tool, and click anywhere
on the image. |
I
select a font . . . |
.
. . and a fill color . . |
.
. . and click OK. The little square in the center of my text allows me to
move it to where I want it. Since it's still in Vector form, I can resize
it without any loss of quality. |
To
apply any effects to the text, we'll have to convert it to Raster. Do this
from the "Layers" menu. |
I'll
add some flair to the text using the "Inner Bevel.." from
"Effects/3D Effects" menu. |
There
are several options and properties to select here. The right-hand window
previews my choices. As you can see, since only the layer containing the
text is selected, the effect is only applied to it. |
Clicking
"OK" applies the effect to the text on the image itself. Since
there's more white space present than necessary, the final step would be
to crop the picture using the "Crop" tool. |
