Layers - Replacement example

In this example, I will take a portion of the image, and replace the display on the TV with it. To make sure my insertion is the right size, I first use the "Selection" tool and select the inside of the TV screen. The size of that selection shows in the lower left hand corner as you drag.
Then I selected an identical-sized part of the existing image.
I selected "Edit/Copy" . . .
. . . and then "Edit/Paste/As New Layer."
The "Mover" tool then allows me to move my new layer up to where I want it - on top of the TV screen.
Since this new image is a separate layer, I can darken and blur it independently from the rest of the picture, to make it look a bit more like a TV display.
