Techie Tip from Kim Overstreet

Tech Tip #8--Adding an email address to your Contacts in Outlook

This tip tells you how to add an address to your contacts (similar to your personal address book) in Outlook.

  • Click on File
  • Select New
  • Then select Contact
  • When you see this new window pop up, you will put the person's name where it says full name and then in the box to the right of the window about mid-way down, you will type their email address (i.e. jdoe@aol.com)
  • Then click Save and Close

Now when you want to email that person, you can either type their name (just like you entered it in the Full Name box) in the To box or you can go into your address book and find Contacts and highlight their name. When you see their name underlined in the To box, you know that it has found their address and will send the message to them.

Students will learn about the history of Thanksgiving cel-
ebrations and feasts in America, how different presidents
chose to celebrate it (or not), and how it was tied to a
successful harvest. They will then explore different har-
vest and Thanksgiving celebrations around the world, com-
paring and contrasting different events and celebrations,
and attempting to trace their own cultural traditions to
earlier gatherings.

http://www.umkc.edu/imc/mayflow.htm

Discover who all was on the Mayflower, where they came
from, and why they were aboard with this passenger list.
Then have your students write a journal entry about com-
ing to this strange new land, or write a newspaper arti-
cle fictionalizing an account for several of the people
involved.

THANKSGIVING LESSON PLAN:
http://www.everythingesl.net/lessons/gobble.php

Download several patterns here to recreate the Pilgrims'
voyage in your elementary classroom. Included are thatched

giving booklet, with ideas to use all of them in a primary
Thanksgiving theme.
