The Lexington Project is a study of cities and towns named Lexington for 3rd grade students.  There are many places named "Lexington" but they differ in size, economy, culture, geography and history.  In this project, students will study the "Lexington" they live in and become an expert.  They will share their knowledge of their city or town with other classes using Fayette County's e-communication system. The Point.  Students will compare their "Lexington" to the others in the project, in terms of size, government, economy, geography and history.  Students are also encouraged to learn how their Lexington has changed over time and how it might change in the future.  Classrooms who have the ability to video conference will be invited to participate in a "virtual" discussion. Culminating projects will be posted on the web and may include: a power point comparing one or more Lexingtons, a digital story about the history of your Lexington, or a map of a new city called Lexington created using information learned in the project.
