Directions for setting up sync stations for Palm Pilots and DIBELS use

To sync a Palm Pilot with DIBELS on it, you have to install two pieces of software: Palm Desktop and WGSync.

Installing Palm Desktop software

  1. Using the Install CD that came with your Palm Pilot, put the CD in the CD drive.  Follow the installation wizard instructions as prompted.  You will need to reboot your machine during this process.
  2. When your machine reboots, complete the installation steps as instructed.

Installing WGSync software

  1. Go to http://www.mclasshome.com and log in with your user ID and password.
  2. Go to the "Support and Resource Center" section and click on "Enter".
  3. In the right hand column, go to the fourth section and click on "Software Downloads".
  4. In the right hand column under "mCLASS Conduit", click on the "Windows Installer" link.
  5. The next page is a license agreement.  Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and click the "Agree" button.
  6. The next page that comes up will automatically start the download process.  (NOTE: If you have Service Pack 2 on your computer, you may get a little sound and a window popping up.  It will ask if you noticed the Information Bar on your screen which is right above the mCLASS symbol.  Click OK on the window.  Follow the directions on the Information Bar about downloading the software.)
  7. Start the download.  When prompted, click "Save", and save it to your desktop.
  8. Double-click on the mCLASS-sync-pc.exe file on your desktop.
  9. The installation wizard will begin.  Click "Next" when prompted.
  10. Read the license agreement and click "Yes" to continue.
  11. VERY IMPORTANT: You will be prompted to choose between a "Personal" or "Public" sync station, choose "Public" if more than one person will be using this sync station, then click "Next", then "Next" again.
  12. When the installation is completed, you will be asked if you want to set up a handheld.  If you need to do so, leave the checkbox as is, and click "Finish".  If you do not need to set up a handheld, uncheck the box, then click "Finish".

You should be able to use your Palm Pilot now to sync your data with the mCLASS website.
