http://artsedge.kennedy-center.org/teaching_materials/curricula/curriculum.cfm?curriculum_id=57&mode=overview

In this lesson, students will be introduced to jazz dance and jazz music. They will have a chance to try some basic jazz dance movements, and they will create a Cinquain poem inspired by jazz music.

Dog Gone Job! (K-2): http://www.econedlink.org/lessons/index.cfm?lesson=EM195&page=teacher

In this lesson, students will watch a video of workers at a kennel and talk about the types of jobs that they saw. They also will complete a drag and drop activity to learn about job specialization.

Traces: Historic Archaeology (3-5): http://edsitement.neh.gov/lessonplans/archaeology.html

In this unit, students will "recover" and analyze artifacts from sites in use from the settlement period to the second half of the 19th century. They will look for similarities and differences among the artifacts and the lives they reveal. In conclusion, students will look at today's artifacts of the future and consider how we will be viewed in the future.

Data Does It: Planning a Trip (3-5): http://illuminations.nctm.org/lessonplans/3-5/tripplanning/index.html#l1

In this i-Plan, teams of students plan trips. To put together their best travel plan, students study a map, consider different routes, visit websites to get airline schedules and costs, and analyze their data. Each team presents its travel schedule and budget to the class. Then teams analyze the different plans and discuss the best features of each one. Students collect data, organize data, and compute differences of multi-digit numbers. This lesson also integrates Social Studies and Art.

A Journal for Corduroy: Responding to Literature (3-5): http://www.readwritethink.org/lessons/lesson_view.asp?id=30

This lesson provides a model of reflection for students as they listen to stories, begin to read stories, and develop their own written stories. The lesson can be used with any story; however in this case, the story of Corduroy allows for a personal connection by having students interact with a stuffed bear and write about their own adventures with Corduroy.

Reaction Time (3-5): http://www.sciencenetlinks.com/lessons.cfm?BenchmarkID=6&DocID=68

In this lesson, students will engage in two online reaction time tests. They will track their progress, taking note of any strategies that help them improve their performance. This lesson encourages students to think about their learning and illustrates that skills, when practiced, can become automatic.

Greeting Friends from Other Places (K-2)

http://www.nationalgeographic.com/xpeditions/lessons/01/gk2/friends.html

Students will be introduced to map reading by examining the “Afghanistan, Land in Crisis” map (available in print or online). Students will practice different types of greetings and learn how children in Afghanistan might greet one another.
