	The purpose of Media Services in keeping with the mission of Fayette County Public Schools is to provide people power, guidelines, and know-how to design excellent school library media programs that will help boost student achievement and to provide quality resources for teachers and staff.
	Professional Organizations American Library Association (ALA) American Association of School Librarians (AASL) is an affiliate of the American Library Association (ALA). ICONnect from AASL supports school LMSs to assume leadership roles in using the Internet with the school community. This site includes online courses, student and family activities, as well as online tours to prepare school librarians for leadership roles. The Nine Information Literacy Standards from AASL are a basis for library/classroom collaboration activities. Children's Book Council - The Children’s Book Council (CBC) is a non-profit trade organization dedicated to encouraging literacy and the use and enjoyment of children’s books since 1945. The CBC sponsors Young People’s Poetry Week and National Children’s Book Week each year. Kentucky School Media Association KSMA is the professional organization of all Kentucky School Library Media Specialists, a state affiliate of the Kentucky Library Association and a national affiliate of the American Association of School Librarians.
