Proficiency: Achieving a Distinguished Library Media Program
- KDE 2001 This document suggest guidelines for high-quality
Library Media Programs in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and should be
used to guide library media specialist in improving the library
programs they administer. It is intended to inform
administrators and school-based decision making councils about high-quality library media
program.
Kentucky Benchmarks for the AASL Information
Literacy Standards in grades 3, 5, 8, 12 have been developed.
Domain
of Knowledge - This document was developed by the Library Media
Professional Standards Task Force under the auspices of the Kentucky
Education Professional Standards Board and the Office of Teacher
Education and Certification. The document was surveyed with
practicing library media specialists throughout the Commonwealth by
the Office of Teacher Education and Certification.
Content
Standards for new Library Media Specialist - A Kentucky Department of
Education document which was
the result of the new certification standards of KERA. It was
developed by a committee of school media educators, LMSs, and Jackie
White.

Academic Expectations - The expectations for students are set forth as
the six learning goals of KERA. These goals led to the development of
the academic expectations that characterize student achievement of the
goals. All Kentucky students are expected to achieve the goals and
academic expectations

Core Content for Assessment - represents the content that has been
identified as essential for all students to know and will be included
on the state assessment.
National Standards

The
Nine Information Literacy Standards from AASL are
a basis for library/classroom collaboration activities.

Regional Standards

The Fayette County Board of Education recommends
that all schools maintain their accreditation in the Southern
