Processing
Foreign
Language Items
Because schools have a need for
more and more foreign language items to be processed into the library
collection, Media Services has been asked to process these for your
library. Unfortunately none of the staff is fluent in any foreign
language. With this in mind we ask that you follow these guidelines when
sending in foreign language orders (Purchase Orders or From School).
*
Send the order list and a copy of the catalog that you used to find your
information. (Any information that you have in English is helpful).
* If one of the jobbers can’t find MARC records for
items or if LMSs order from the publisher or send the items for processing
from the school, then Media Services will have to create a MARC record.
In
this case the information Media Services gets from you will help to catalog the items
much faster.
* If we cannot translate to get the
MARC record information, then we will have to return items to you.
You will then need to find someone to translate them for MARC record
information.
