A WebQuest on the Holocaust for Ms. Rugg's students at Leestown

 

Introduction


Now that you have read Number the Stars you have the perspective of what it was like to be a young person in Nazi Germany.  Now you will be learning a little more about the Holocaust and what happened then. 
 

Task


You will be looking at various websites and gathering information to answer questions on your worksheet.  

Process


First read the questions on the worksheet that you have been given.  Then you will be ready to begin exploring the websites below to find the answers to your questions.

United States Holocaust Memorial Museum--Navigate through this site using the buttons at the top of the page.  Lots of your answers can come from here.

A Teacher's Guide to the Holocaust --Be sure to go into the People section to learn about the rescuers and resistors who aided victims of the Holocaust.

The History Place--has several documents dealing with World War II and Nazi Germany.  Be sure to go to the Auschwitz Today Photo Essay.  Also has a timeline of happenings.

Remember.org --has images, discussion boards, education links and more.  Be sure to visit the Witnesses section and read some first-hand accounts of the concentration camps.

Holocaust Survivors--has a photo gallery, audio gallery and stories from survivors of the Holocaust.

Evaluation


The worksheet will be turned in for a grade.

Conclusion


The point of this lesson is to learn more about the Holocaust, so don't get too tied up in trying to answer the questions.  Read the stories, look that the pictures.  Learn about the tragedies of the past.
