Introduction

It's Black History Month again.  There are many African Americans who are worthy of our attention and honor, yet we tend to study the same people over and over. 

Task

Your task is to generate a list of African-American men and women (historical figures) whose achievements came in the areas/categories listed below:

Politics Sports Science
Military Literature TV/Stage/Acting
Music/Dance Business Kentuckians
Lexingtonian Women  

Do not use Rosa Parks, Martin L. King, Jr., etc.

Process

  1. Use these link to list at least one person in each category.

  2. Choose one person from your list whose achievments you espeically admire.
  3. Design a statue or monument to honor them.  Your statue must include a name plate and a written tribute.
  4. Draw the statue and write a description explaining why you chose that design and what materials you would use.
  5. Tell where in the country you would want  your statue to be placed.
  6. Alternate assignments:  (See your teacher for more details about these options.)
