Using FrontPage 2003

Getting Started: A comparison of FrontPage 2003 to FrontPage 2000.

How To Insert Clip Art:

  • Place the cursor on the page where you want to insert a clip art graphic. (Note: Inserting a table in which to place the graphic is recommended in order to control the position of the graphic.)
  • From the File menu, choose Insert. Choose Picture. Choose Clip Art.

  • From the Clip Art panel, which appears to the right-hand side, in the box under Search for:, type the name of the clip art graphic for which you are searching.
  • Choose the drop-down arrow for the Results should be: box to select a media file type.
  • Uncheck all boxes, except for Clip Art. The Clip Art box should be checked.
  • Click on the drop-down arrow to close the Results should be: media file type box.

  • Choose Go.

  • The clip art results will appear in the white box.
  • Click on the clip art graphic you wish to insert. (Note: A description of that graphic, including size will appear.)

  • The clip art graphic will then be inserted into your web page.

  • Save the Page.


How To Insert A Graphic:

  • NOTE: Make sure the graphic you want to insert on your web page is saved on your computer before you begin the insertion process.
  • Place the cursor on the page where you want to insert a graphic. (Note: Inserting a table in which to place the graphic is recommended in order to control the position of the graphic.)
  • From the File menu, choose Insert. Choose Picture. Choose From File.

  • In the Picture box, choose the drop-down arrow for the Look in: box to navigate to the location of your graphic file.
  • Click on the folder (or location) of your graphic file.

  • Choose the graphic file.
  • Choose Insert.

  • The graphic will be inserted on the web page.
  • Save the page.
     

How To Insert A Table:

  • Place the cursor on the page where you want to insert a table.
  • From the File menu, choose Table. Choose Insert. Choose Table.


 

Make necessary changes in the Insert Table box:

  • Set the number of Rows and Columns, using the drop-down arrows.
  • Change the Alignment, using the drop-down arrow.
  • Specify table width, or uncheck the Specify width: box to have table expand with its contents.
  • Set Cell padding, using the drop-down arrow.  (Note: Cell padding is the space between the edge of the cell and its contents.)
  • Set Cell spacing, using the drop-down arrow. (Note: Cell spacing is the space between the edge of one cell and the edge of its adjoining cell.)
  • Specify Borders size. (Note: A 0 indicates the border will appear invisible on the web page when it is viewed through a browser.)
  • After changes are made, choose OK.
  • Save the page.

To make changes to an existing table:

  • Place the cursor any place on top of the table.
  • Right-click and choose Table Properties.
  • The Table Properties box will appear, wherein you can make changes.
  • After changes, save the page.

 

How To Create A Hyperlink:

  • On the web page where the hyperlink will appear, type the word(s) which will represent the hyperlink. 
  • Highlight the word(s).
  • Right-click on top of the word(s). Choose HyperlinkOR
  •   From the task bar, choose the world-with-the-chain link to insert hyperlink. 

  • In the Insert Hyperlink box, in the box next to Address: type in the URL (web address) for the hyperlink. (This is for a hyperlink outside of your website to another website on the internet.)
  • Choose OK.
  • Save the page.

OR To link to a page within your website:

  • From the white box, choose the page to which you want to link. (Note: After choosing the page, the page will will appear in the Address: box.
  • Choose OK.
  • Save the page.

OR To link to an email address:

  • Choose the E-mail Address box which appears in the lower left-hand corner.

  • In the E-mail Address: box type your email address. (Note: As soon as you type in the @ following your username, mailto: will automatically appear before your username. Do NOT type mailto:)
  • Choose OK.
  • Save the page.

 

How To Create A Bookmark:  (A bookmark allows you to jump from one place on a web page to another.)

  • Begin creating the bookmark at the "return to" place on the web page. (For example: there is a hyperlink at the bottom of a page, which say Top. When you click on Top, it takes you back to the top of the page, which is the "return to" place.
  • Highlight the "return to" place.

  • From the File menu, choose Insert. Choose Bookmark.

  • Choose OK. (Note: The highlighted words of the "return to" place appear in the box Bookmark name:)

  • The bookmark is now completed. You can tell a bookmark on a web page because it is underlined with a dotted line.
  • Save the page.

  • Go to the place on the web page where you want to create the hyperlink which goes to the bookmark. (Example: A hyperlink at the bottom of a page, which will return to the top of a page will be named "Top.")
  • Highlight the word(s).

  • Right-click on top of the word(s). Choose HyperlinkOR
  •   From the task bar, choose the world-with-the-chain link to insert hyperlink. 
  • In the Insert Hyperlink box, choose Bookmark.

  • In the Select Place in Document box, choose the bookmark for this hyperlink.
  • Choose OK.

  • (Note: The bookmark now appears in the Address: box.) Choose OK.
  • Save the page.


 

How To Insert A Word File:

  • Open your website in FrontPage 2003
  • Open a new blank page.
  • From the File menu, choose Insert. Choose File.

  • At the bottom of the Select File box, choose the drop-down arrow for the Files of type: box.
  • Choose All Files [*.*].

  • In the Look in: box choose the drop-down arrow to navigate to the location of the Word file on your computer.
  • Choose the Word file. (Note: The Word file will then appear in the File name: box.)
  • Choose Open.

  • FrontPage will insert the Word file into the blank web page.
  • Save the page, giving it a new file name and page title.
