FrontPage 2003
Compared to FrontPage 2000
Having used FrontPage 2000 and/or
FrontPage 2002, you will be able to adapt to using FrontPage 2003
quite easily. However, as a more powerful web editor, FrontPage 2003
contains more professional design and layout tools. Following are
some FrontPage 2003 features which are different from or do not
appear in FrontPage 2000:
To Open A Web:
Different from FrontPage 2000:

Use the Getting Started
panel (right-hand side) of screen

Under Open, choose either a
website listed (those you have most recently edited) OR choose the
web folder More,
which opens My Network Places. (Note: The choice
could be Open existing site, instead of More.)

In the Open Site box, choose the
website you want to open OR
-
If it is not listed, type the URL in
the Site name: box.
Example: http://staff.fcps.net/jdoe

Choose Open.

PLEASE NOTE: If
you are logging onto your website from your home computer or any computer
outside of the FCPS network, you will have to use fayette\
in front of
your user name. Example: fayette\jdoe The \ slash
is the ONLY one which will work.
NOTE: in the Getting
Started panel
-
You can, also, open a specific page
(the ones you've recently edited are listed) or choose the More
folder , which
open My Webs on the local hard drive.

Or you can create a new page.
If you choose not to use the
Getting Started panel, you can X-out of it.

Similar to FrontPage 2000:

Design -- (called Normal
in FPg 2000) is used for creating and editing pages.
-
Split -- (not included in FPg
2000) provides a split screen where you can edit in the design
view and simultaneously see the html code.

Code -- (called HTML in
FPg 2000) is used to edit or insert code directly.
-
Preview -- (called Preview
in FPg 2000) is used to test hyperlinks or web components.
NOTE: To see precisely how the
web page will look on the internet, view it through the internet
browser.
To View Through the Internet Browser:

NOTE: If you want to view the
web page through a specific size browser:

Choose File from the menu bar.
-
Choose Preview in Browser.
-
Choose the browser size -- ie.
(1024 x 768), (800 x 600) or (640 x 480)

To Navigate from One Open Page to Another Open
Page:
Different from FrontPage 2000:
-
A tab with the file name will appear
at the top of each webpage as you open it.
-
Choose the tab of the page you
want to work on.
-
The tab of the page you are currently
working on will be white.
