FrontPage 2003 Compared to FrontPage 2000

Having used FrontPage 2000 and/or FrontPage 2002, you will be able to adapt to using FrontPage 2003 quite easily. However, as a more powerful web editor, FrontPage 2003 contains more professional design and layout tools. Following are some FrontPage 2003 features which are different from or do not appear in FrontPage 2000:

To Open A Web:

Different from FrontPage 2000:

  • Use the Getting Started panel (right-hand side) of screen

  • Under Open, choose either a website listed (those you have most recently edited) OR choose the web folder More,   which opens My Network Places. (Note: The choice could be Open existing site, instead of More.)

  • In the Open Site box, choose the website you want to open OR

  • If it is not listed, type the URL in the Site name: box.
    Example: http://staff.fcps.net/jdoe

  • Choose Open.

  • When you are prompted for a username and password, use the same ones you use to log into the FCPS network.

PLEASE NOTE:  If you are logging onto your website from your home computer or any computer outside of the FCPS network, you will have to use fayette\ in front of your user name.  Example:  fayette\jdoe  The \ slash is the ONLY one which will work.

NOTE: in the Getting Started panel

  • You can, also, open a specific page (the ones you've recently edited are listed) or choose the More folder  , which open My Webs on the local hard drive.

  • Or you can create a new page.

If you choose not to use the Getting Started panel, you can X-out of it.

  OR

  • Code -- (called HTML in FPg 2000) is used to edit or insert code directly.

  • Preview -- (called Preview in FPg 2000) is used to test hyperlinks or web components.

NOTE: To see precisely how the web page will look on the internet, view it through the internet browser.

To View Through the Internet Browser:
