This website is intended for the instructional use of students and staff of Fayette County Public Schools

Each month TIPS will have two profiles - one from the technology support side, and the other from the educational support side, of the Office of Technology of Fayette County Schools.

On this page:
Tech Support Profile - Dave Stawicki
Educational Technology Profile - Mike Johnson

Dave Stawicki, Video Support, Office of Technology

Dave, originally from northern Ohio, was a producer, director, production manager, and (as the station's capabilities grew) the computer network technician at WKYT/Channel 27, for 18 of his 25 years in broadcast television. During this time he worked with Caywood Ledford and David Shuffett, among others. He first entered the Fayette County School system as a LAN Service Technician for Bryan Station Traditional High School, where he served for over a year. Dave has returned to his first career to work with the Cable 13 video production staff in Fayette County. He will be pivotal in a complete retooling of that department, as they enter the digital age and integrate with the other services of the Technology Department. Dave's favorite quote: "You're never too old to have a happy childhood!" TIPS congratulates Dave on his new job!

Mike Johnson, District Tech Resource Teacher

Mike, an Owenton, Kentucky native, is in his 7th year as a teacher in Fayette County. He is an Eastern Kentucky University alumnus, where he also completed his Masters of Science. An extensive knowledge of website construction and FrontPage makes him an invaluable member of the team producing and maintaining the TALK (Technology Assisting Literary Knowledge) website, as well as the Literary Book Club (both are featured in this issue of TIPS). Last year, Mike initiated TechExpo, which provides web projects and contests aligned with the core curriculum, for students through STLP and classroom settings. He will be involved with science software professional development and selection during the second semester of this year. Visit his district website at /trt20/.
