Extending the Classroom Through the Web

Since an increasing number of students have access to the Internet at home, teachers at SCAPA Bluegrass are using their teacher web sites for supplying students with information to supplement classroom work. Bonnie Conaway has taken photographs of her textiles demonstrations in order to allow her students to review the processes she has introduced in class. By supplying pictures of the demonstration procedures, parents can help students duplicate the process at home and extend learning into the "real world."

Mrs. Conaway has also included pages of worksheets and other classroom information so that students who miss class (or would like to review) can view or print the information at home.

She says she has already had students referring to the pages for out-of -class help. Ms. Conaway is a textiles artist whose work has recently been featured in the Lexington Herald-Leader (4/19/2002), and exhibited at the Lexington Arts and Cultural Council's Gallery Hop. http://www.lexarts.org/
