Creating A Classroom Web Page -- This hands-on workshop for beginners will take you through the process of designing and creating a classroom web page ready to post to your school's web server. A great way to communicate with students and parents: use MS FrontPage to create a classroom web page that brings the school and home together in a learning environment.

Tuesday, June 25 -- 1:00-2:30 (1.5 hrs. PD credit) Managing the Email Avalanche! -- Are you getting too much email? There are tools built into Outlook that help you sort, store, and prioritize your email, so your Inbox doesn't get clogged, and you don't miss that important note from a parent! Included in this session will also be hints on how to improve your outgoing email's effectiveness as well.  [This is an intermediate Microsoft Outlook Class - not for beginners.] Mark DiMascio

Graphic Design in the Classroom -- Technology provides powerful tools for art and graphic design. This class will cover the basics of Macromedia Fireworks. We will also cover projects that can be used in the classroom. It is strongly recommended that participants have experience with Fireworks or other similar products (Adobe Photoshop, Corel Draw, etc.)

Introduction to Microsoft Outlook -- An introduction to the FCPS email system. Learn how to compose, answer, forward, and send a message with an attachment. Other instructions include a complete explaination of address books and how they work.

Thursday, June 27 -- 1:00-2:30 (1.5 hrs. PD credit) Video Conferencing Across a Network and Beyond -- With inexpensive tools and a network connection, your students can talk face-to-face with students across town, or across the country! We'll set up simple video conferences and connect you with resources to help structure such events right in your classroom. We'll also examine how to stream live video to the Internet. Jeffrey L. Classroom Projects Using Macromedia Flash -- Macromedia Flash has become a standard for multimedia projects. This course will look at some sample ideas for projects that students can create, and work through ways to produce them using Flash.

Monday, July 8 -- 12:30-3:30 (3 hrs. PD credit) PowerPoint Jeopardy Games for Classroom Learning and Fun -- In this make-and-take session, you will learn how to customize a ready-made PowerPoint template and use it for a variety of instructional purposes. This is a must for every teacher who is looking for fun and new ways to do reviews. If you can click, highlight, and change fonts like you do in Microsoft Word, then you will have no problem at all working in this class. PD credit) Music and Sound in the Digital Domain -- Getting music and speech into your computer requires little effort, with tools  you can download or are embedded in Office or Windows. We'll show how to record text, CDs, and other media, into your computer for editing and use elsewhere. We'll also discuss when it's legal to do what ("Fair Use" and copyright). Jeffrey L. Using Web Pages for Student Writing -- Ever wonder how that marvelous FCPS Olympics site works? Its authors will explain how to use a database and the Active Server Page interface to allow students to create, edit, and submit for web display their own writing on line. Techniques for constructing and formatting the site and its contents will be examined. This is not a beginning Web class - prior experience with FrontPage is required.

PD credit) Intro to Microsoft Word2000 -- Beginning: Entering/editing text; selecting, then formatting text; cutting, copying and pasting text using the clipboard; save vs. save-as; retrieving a saved file; creating a new file; printing and print preview. Monday, July 15 -- 9:00-12:00 (3 hrs. PD credit) Video Production using Pinnacle Systems Studio Products -- Pinnacle Systems provides an easy computer video-editing environment for digitizing, editing, recording, duping to tape, saving to web-postable file, even broadcasting video in your school! This hands-on workshop will give you an introduction to this package - if you wish, you can bring your own video for capture and editing. Curricular/classroom applications will be examined. Both DC10+ and the all-digital StudioDV will be used. Jeffrey Jones

PD credit) Using Digital Cameras with Microsoft Image Composer -- We will create pictures using digital cameras, then use Image Composer to do basic editing and reformatting of the pictures for use in Word/Publisher documents, or for posting on the Web. PD credit) Multimedia in PowerPoint and the Web -- We'll examine how to use music, video, and animation in multimedia PowerPoint presentations, and for delivery through your teacher or school website. Thursday, July 18 -- 10:00-12:00 (2 hrs. PD credit) Microsoft Excel2000 -- Beginning and intermediate. Topics covered are: entering data, functions and formulas; editing information in cells; tips to selecting multiple cells in formulas; setting margins, printing gridlines and graphing data. In addition: organizing and enhancing workbooks with cell notes, text boxes; graphing data from worksheet; using Excel 2000 as a database; using an Excel 2000 database to perform mail merges. Monday, July 22 -- 1:00-3:30 (2.5 hrs. PD credit) Inspiration in the Classroom -- Inspiration is a versatile piece of software that allows the student and teacher to brainstorm, map concepts, plan for multimedia presentations, map ideas, and webbing. It can be used in any content area. It is especially beneficial during the writing process. Students and teachers are able to go through the entire writing process without having to write anything by hand on paper. Come learn how to brainstorm, outline, export, and publish in Word. We will also discover how to access ready-made templates and how to create your own templates for students to use when school starts.
