Suitable for elementary school students Yates Elementary School News Broadcast

By Brandon Abrams, 4th Grade (Mrs. Drake, Yates Elementary)

At Yates Elementary, three fourth grade STLP students have taken over the morning announcements. We all doing all of the school announcements in PowerPoint, and then they are shown on the classroom televisions. A lot of the teachers leave the televisions on all day. That way we can watch the announcements all day!

Each morning we start the announcements with a patriotic song. Now we have five different songs and we change them everyday. Then the next slides have the daily lunch menu and breakfast for tomorrow. After that, we say the Yates pledge. Each day a different class leads the pledge. Then we put on announcements which are looped so they play again and again. We show slides with things like

  • Announcements for the teachers from the Principal
  • Announcements for the students.
  • Top A.R. Scores for each grade.
  • An animated graph showing the A.R. scores.
  • Thank you's to people for the special things we do at our school
  • P.T.A. announce
  • Activities on the school calendar
  • Special class projects

Mrs. Drake helps us, and I really like doing the announcements. One day, I was so excited that I woke up at 4:00 in the morning. I came to school at 6:30.
