The Fayette County Public Schools has begun a partnership with the
UCLA IMMEX Project which is sponsored by the National Science
Foundation. IMMEX (Interactive Multi-Media Exercises) engages students
in:
- Scientific inquiry
- Distinguishing relevant information
- Planning search strategies
- Gathering information
- Reaching decisions that demonstrate understanding.
IMMEX problem cases are a free web-based resource which are
available to everyone. They challenge students to investigate a
problem and then provide them with the resources to develop, test, and
refine hypotheses to arrive at complex solutions. The Fayette County
Public Schools project has the goal of preparing and posting 42 new
problem sets for middle and high school science, technology,
engineering, and math during the three-year duration of the project.
