Map Maker UtilityMap Maker Utility

http://monarch.tamu.edu/~maps2/

On this site you will find maps of every state and of the entire United States that you can customize to suit your needs.  "In interpreting and illustrating events taking place in some locations and not others, the use of shaded or "color-contrasted" maps can be useful. This webform allows you to choose up to six different groupings of states or counties - along with your title, choice of colors and labels. A computer program will then draw a map with your groupings shown in the selected colors. The map can then either be printed or saved and used later."

ReadingQuestReadingQuest

http://curry.edschool.virginia.edu/go/readquest/strat/

This site  has 27 different reading strategies to use with your students.  An explanation of the strategy as well as instructions are included for each.  Charts for printing are available for many of the strategies listed.  The site was developed by a professor at Wake Forest for social studies teachers, but it would be useful for any content area teacher, especially ESL.
