Our technology resource teachers on
the elementary level know that IMMEX is for everyone - not just
middle and high schoolers. Elementary students have been some of
our heaviest users of IMMEX. The problem? There aren't many K-5
problem sets to choose from. The solution? Create their own!
 These highly creative
Technology Resource
Teachers (some who worked with teachers from their respective
schools) attended a 3 day workshop in February to begin
designing their very own problem sets. Some of the new sets
(which address specific Kentucky Core Content) include:
1) Social studies problem sets about Kentucky
History and geography, US regions,
World Regions, and the
medieval world; 2) An Arts and Humanities
problem set about
lighting and stagecraft; 3) A science problem featuring an actual
cave in the Cardinal Valley area near the school.
As these TRTs know, IMMEX engages students and
challenges them to think critically, and the earlier they begin,
the better. These exciting web-based (free) resources will be
available for all to use by the 2005-2006 school year.
IMMEX Problem Development News:
- Our Countdown
continues. The project has now completed 15 problem
sets. Our latest additions include Earthquake
(HS Physics), How Much Do You Order? (HS
Chemistry), and Measuring the Impossible (HS
Chemistry).
- To keep those problem sets flowing,
our students and teachers are participating in
once-a-month Saturday morning workshops. This is a
great opportunity to learn more about project
software, as well as share expertise.
You may preview an entire clone of these sets at http://teach.fcps.net/immex/preview/. |
