Brandon and a brown troutBrandon Wade, LAN/WAN Service Technician

Brandon is one of those technicians who manages to squeeze a life in between his professional responsibilities! Every spring he runs a fly fishing guide service on the Cumberland River, where he fishes from a wooden drift boat he and Lafayette TRT Mike Wlosinski built in Mike's garage. Brandon ties his own flies, and as you can see at right, they serve him well.

Mike and Brandon's drift boatBrandon's relationship with the world of fishing was established early. He was born in Somerset Regional Hospital, and spent the next 18 years in Russell County with lots of quality time on Lake Cumberland and the Cumberland River. He is a Russell County High School graduate, and has recently completed a BWife Julie, with daughter Avaachelors in Mathematics from the University of Kentucky. Early in his academic career he worked in the Lexmark co-op program as an inkjet printer software technician, testing for software bugs. While there, he also learned PC repair and network management. He joined Fayette County in 2000 as a Microcomputer Specialist after three years at Lexmark, and was subsequently promoted to LAN/WAN manager. He pursues those responsibilities at Tates Creek High School.

Brandon and his wife, Julie, live in Lexington. They welcomed their first child, Ava, into the world on August 23rd of last year. As a new father, his life has gotten even fuller!

Cammy BaxterCammy Baxter, Technology Resource Teacher

Mrs. Baxter also joined the ranks of new parent this school year, returning in December from maternity leave! Cammy and husband, Todd, had their first child, Sagan Marie, born on September 9th.

Cammy herself was born in Alexandria, Virginia, but moved to Kentucky where she spent her childhood between Lexington, Shelbyville, Louisville, & Frankfort, and graduating from Franklin County High School. She has received a Bachelors in Elementary Education from the University of Kentucky, and a Masters from Georgetown College, during which she obtained a certificate in Mathematics and Science for grades 5-9.

Cammy with Todd and SaganThis last academic credential helped her gain a math and science teaching position at Fayette County's School for the Creative and Performing Arts (SCAPA). During her five year tenure there, she was the Elementary Science Representative, served on the School Based Decision Making (SBDM) council, joined Phi Delta Kappa, and was featured both in the Teacher Spotlight, and in videos of technology integration best practices for the Stages of Teaching with Technology project. This fall, she joined the Office of Instructional Technology as a TRT, and besides her old school,  SCAPA, she serves Ashland Elementary and Russell Cave Elementary in that capacity.

When not working and taking care of Sagan, Mrs. Baxter loves to read, visit family, have lunch with her grandparents during the summer, and sit on the front porch and watch the hummingbirds, deer, and rabbits frolic and play in the field across the street. She, Todd, and Sagan live in Georgetown.
