historical short about the picture there. Beginning with the May
2003 issue of TIPS, that historical piece was the responsibility

"I was around 6, when I inherited my first PC
(a 386) from my grandpa. It was a great thing, and the only thing
that can compare to it in our house was our TV. Not really into
watching people do stuff on TV, I had started to tinker around with
the PC. Setting the DMA Channels and I/O Addresses for the Sound
Blaster 16 was really fun. Ever since then I inherited more and more
powerful computers and learned how to use them. I learned about the
inner-workings of the computer and it really amazed me that
something like this is really possible. Things started to really
lift off when I inherited my first Pentium-based Computer that was
running Windows 95. At first I didn't really like 95 and I really
despised it. I was a lot more used to 3.1, but as time progresses I
begin to love it. Sooner or later as I got into the higher-level
education that was provided to me, and the computer was a lot more
productive then ever. I started making reports, drawings all kinds
of things for school on it. Now I depend on it for school as I use
it to create commercial-quality reports and projects...." (Full
