Title: Touching Spirit Bear Reviewer: Takahiro
Author: Mikaelsen, Ben Teacher: Winburn, Carol
Illustrator: Tanaka, Takahiro School: Southern Middle

I read a book called Touching Spirit Bear. It is about a boy named Cole Matthews. He severly beat up a kid, named Peter in school one day. For punishment, he is sent to an island in Alaska.

The book takes places mostly in an island in Alaska. Other times, it takes place in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The main characters in this book are Cole, the person that causes all the problems, Peter, the person that get's beat up all the time, Garvey, and Edwin, who are helpers of Cole that has had experiences themselves. Other characters are Coles mom, dad, and Peter's parents.

The best part of this book is when Cole becomes invisible and reunites with the Spirit Bear after he gets mauled. This time, he doesn't try to hurt the bear, or fight it. He just wanted to see the Spirit Bear.

This book was really good. If I were to rate it 1-10, I would give it a 8.5. The ending was kind of imcomplete. I wanted to see what actually happened to Cole and Peter after they forgave each other.
