Jamie Decker, Technology Resource Teacher

Jamie Decker is the first of three new TRT's this year. Her assignments include Picadome, Garden Springs, J.R. Ewan, and Linlee Elemetary Schools. The youngest of the new crop, Jamie graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1998, and worked for three years at Cardinal Valley, where her responsibilities included being the social studies representative. She is currently working on a Masters of Education with Technology Focus at Georgetown College.

Jamie lives with her dog Trevor in a new house in Georgetown. She is one of seven children, so seven nieces and nephews keep her occupied with the serious pursuit of spoiling them to death! She loves "...reading mystery novels and any novel dealing with lawyers because I hope to become a lawyer in my old age." An interest in four wheeling in the mountains has also been added since meeting her husband-to-be, Lance, through her work at Cardinal Valley. This has brought with it frequent visits to his parents and their ATVs in Harlan. They plan on marrying in October - welcome and congratulations, all at once!

Amy Johns, Technology Resource Teacher

Our second new TRT for this year, Amy Johns, hails originally from London, Kentucky, coming to Lexington ten years ago to attend the University of Kentucky. There she earned a Bachelors in both Elementary and Special Education, and a Masters in Education Assistive Technology. She received her computer science endorsement last year. She has been with Fayette County Schools for five years, teaching special education, then computer applications, at Winburn Middle School. Her responsibilities included  the student newspaper, morning live video broadcasts, and Web pages for extra-curricular activities.

Amy lives in Lexington with her husband, Chris, nine-month-old son Caleb, and her Shetland Sheepdog named Prince. Beyond family and work, she enjoys "...singing on my church praise team, spending time with friends, and traveling." Look for her at her new schools: Tates Creek Middle School, The Academy, James Lane Allen Elementary, and Breckinridge Elementary.

LeAnna Prater, Technology Resource Teacher

LeAnna is the third to join the Educational Technology office new this year. She is a five-year veteran of Fayette County, where, along with her teaching responsibilities, she worked on competency assurance documents for the district. LeAnna has also taught in North Carolina and West Virginia, and holds a Bachelors in Elementary Education from the University of Charleston. Like Ms. Decker above, she is working on an advanced degree at Georgetown College. This year she will be handling the instructional technology needs of Millcreek, Cardinal, Valley, Glendover, and Clays Mill Elementary Schools.

Despite protestations to the contrary, LeAnna enjoys a wide range of interests outside of her professional responsibilities. She paints, including murals (the one at right is in the guidance office of Linlee Elementary), sews and crochets, and is currently looking for a publisher for a new children's book! She especially enjoys the Christmas season. LeAnna lives in Lexington with her husband Craig and two daughters, Reagan and Emily.
