Second Annual FCPS TechFair is a huge success!

Students and adults of all ages converged on Henry Clay High School on Saturday, March 29, 2003, for the second annual FCPS TechFair. The TechFair is a celebration of how students and teachers use technology every day.  Booths from 24 elementary, 8 middle, 2 high schools and one technical school were set up in the gymnasium and cafeteria for the public to view.  The students were joined by 11 FCPS, vendor, and community partner booths.

Tates Creek Middle School students sharing various projects from their school.Booths included many different examples of technology use.  Some of the projects were classroom projects, like Henry Clay's Iditarod Trail Class Technology Project, as well as STLP projects, like students from Breckinridge and The Academy at Lexington that used NetMeeting to communicate between their two groups.  There were also technical projects, like Eastside's video on how to install a network card, and community projects, like Arlington's Parent/Arlington Community Computer Information Night. 

Student riding the "hovercraft" built by Winburn students.There was even a little engineering going on by the Winburn group.  They brought a "hovercraft" built based on plans they had downloaded off the Internet.  Kids lined up for the opportunity to ride on it!

Students learned how a green screen works in TV production from P. L. Dunbar students.  Dunbar students also unveiled a radio station created for their school, shared CAD and other engineering projects as well as community service projects with local schools, St. Paul AME Church and the Fayette County Urban League.

Student Technology Leadership Programs and Students Recognized at the Kentucky Teaching and Learning Conference March 7, 2003

             On March 7, 2003, several Fayette County Student Technology Leadership Program groups and students were recognized for their part in the Kentucky Teaching and Learning Conference (KTLC) 2003 held in Louisville by the Kentucky Department of Education.  Some of the awards were for groups and others were for the individual student.  We want to congratulate all the students and adults for making Fayette County technology shine throughout the state!  Check out the details on the Fayette County Good News page.
