Activity:
Direct students to use this Story Sequence document which has a series of events listed in an incorrect order. This is a Word 2000 document where events have been placed in a text box which can be rearranged in correct order by clicking on the box and dragging on the "fuzzy part" of the line around the text box. Further directions are given on the worksheet. The teacher may change the events in the text boxes to correspond with a story being read. Students are instructed to use the undo button to scramble the sentences back like they were found leaving them ready for the next student who visits the computer.
(Remember to cancel the permission window which sometimes only shows in the task tray,
OR Right click and save target as)
Assessment: Student will correctly sequence the events and check their answers by following directions.
Extension/Enrichment: Students can change the text in the boxes to list sequences of events that happened in a story they have read. Or use this as a graphic organizer to list events in a personal narrative they have written. Then highlight the text box that is the most important event and therefore should be the focus of their personal narrative.
