Objective: (1) Students will list characters in the order they appeared in the story.  (2) Students will write a short paragraph describing the character. (3) Students will include a picture that relates to the character.

1. Open Timeliner and choose to create a custom timeline.

2.  Under the "when" column, type 1 and under the "what" column type the charcter's name.  Continue with 2,3,....until all characters are listed.

3.  Go to Banner view. Click on a character name.  Click on Notes.  Have the students write a short paragraph about the character here.

4.  Have the student Browse for clip art or go into paint and draw a picture that relates to the character.  Copy and paste the pictures on the desktop.

5. In Timeliner, click on the character name. Click on pictures.  Click on import, then browse.  Have the students browse on the desktop for their picture.  Click to insert.

6.  If you want, you could record the students reading the sentence, find music or other sound that relates to the character and add it. (Go to sounds to do this.).

7.  Run the slide show for the class.

Evaluation:  Use a rubric or check sheet to grade.
