| This activity is designed to generate a class discussion to stimulate students' curiosity and interest in further reading they will do about the Harlem Renaissance. The teacher will use the titles, headings, illustrations and captions to stimulate discussion. The discussion should include how headings, illustrations and captions can be used to promote interest as well as increase comprehension of a text. Two optional activities are available for individual follow-up student work. The student may choose to study a particular person of the Renaissance period to share with the class by creating a Power Point presentation or web page. Another option would be for the student to create a poster to advertise a show which might have occurred during this time. | |||||||||||||||
