Software Purchasing

There are several ways schools and the district may purchase software:

State Contracts which may be found on the Fayette County Schools Purchasing Office page.
Vendors such as CDWG that have government (GSA) contracts.
Directly from the software publisher, if they are the sole source of that specific product and there is no equivalent product available under another contract.
Locally approved bids.

Effective January 1, 2010 through December 31, 2010, Fayette County has locally approved bids with Academic Superstore and Learning Services. Both vendors offer a wide selection of software and some hardware at discount prices.

When placing orders for larger quantities of items, these vendors may offer a lower price. Contact the individual vendors for details.

In some cases, these vendors may offer discounts to individuals who work for the school district. Contact the individual vendors for details.

The FCPS bid number is 59-09. That number must be included on all purchase orders to these vendors.

Exception - Discounts do not apply to specified publishers and new publishers who offer academic pricing. Journey K12 maintains a customized website for Fayette County and prices on that website reflect our discount.

How to Place an Order

The School Technology Coordinator at each school is responsible for selecting software to purchase, with input from the technology committee and staff. Items may be selected from catalogs or websites. Please compare prices carefully to see which vendor offers the lower price. In some instances, a vendor that offers a bigger percentage discount may be more expensive because their catalog price was higher to begin with. Be sure and indicate bid number 59-09 on the purchase order.
