Entry - Teachers will learn the basics of using a new technology

At this level, teachers are just beginning their use of technology, and are learning how it works. The use of technology has yet to appear in the classroom (unless such use is completely student driven), and, in any case, has not had an impact on classroom instructional practice. We all have to go through this stage, often many times with the learning of each new technology tool. With ordinary computer use, this stage corresponds roughly to Experienced Teacher Standards 10.1 and 10.4.

Activities which might match this stage:

• Hooking up a computer or other hardware,
• Installing new software,
• Learning the basics of Word, Excel, or other Office tool.
