Stage: 2 - Adoption

Experienced Teacher Technology Standard(s): 10.6

Discussion: Since the technology in this lesson is not being used to support anything beyond traditional paper and pencil skills, and since the level of technology use is quite minimal, this is a Stage 2 example.

Enhancements:

  • The use of Geometer's Sketchpad (see Classroom Example #3) to make the drawings and do the computations would qualify this as a Stage 3 lesson.
  • As in Classroom Example #3, Geometer's Sketchpad could be used to allow students to measure the diameter, radius, circumference, and area of a variety of circles. They could then be asked to discover any relationships within these values.
  • Allowing the students to select what tool(s) they wished to use would qualify this lesson as Stage 5.
