Lesson Objective: Students will develop number sense for pi by using a tape measure to measure the circumference and diameter of a variety of cylinders. Students will then create a spreadsheet where they will enter the data they have collected and set up a formula to calculate the ratio of those measurements to discover the value of pi.

Technology: Computer using Excel or other spreadsheet
